Lunar New Year Celebration 2023

Join us in celebration of the Lunar New Year and a rousing welcome of the Year of the Rabbit. This free event will include live entertainment, keiki activities, and lots more family fun from 5:30 – 8:30 pm, on Friday, February 3.
Firecrackers & Chinese Lion Dance
We’ll be kicking off the centuries-old tradition with firecrackers before the colorful Chinese Lion Dancers from Majestic Culture and the Arts Association perform their acrobatic feats and leaps throughout Queens’ Marketplace. Interacting with the audience as they go door to door, guests will have the chance to feed the lion lucky red Lai See envelopes and bring good luck.
Lai See envelopes will be available at the Queens’ Marketplace info booth and individual stores.
Live Entertainment
Enjoy live performances by Kona Daifukuji Taiko group and music by So-Shin Kai Koto group. Hawaii Island’s favorite radio host G.Cruz from KWXX FM will be emceeing the event and broadcasting live, right from Queens’ Marketplace!
Keiki Activities
Create your own Chinese lanterns, good fortune watercolor bookmarks and dragon art at our Keiki Arts & Crafts booth hosted by Autism Moms of Kona, and don’t forget to visit Aunty Alayna and Aunty Jenn to get specially designed face paintings!
Photo Ops with Hawaii Island Titleholders
Our Hawaii Island titleholders will be making a special appearance throughout the night, including Miss Aloha Hawaii 2023 and Miss Teen Hawaii International 2022. Don’t forget to snap a photo with them and tag us @QueensMarketplace on Instagram!
