The event is an annual Ryder Cup-style junior golf tournament that recognizes and rewards the ability of young men and women from Hawai`i and Japan, while raising awareness and monies for a variety of local charitable organizations. Now in its 12th year, the event was started by Mark Wang, president of Hilton Grand Vacations Club and Mary Bea Porter- King, president of Hawai`i State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA), who wanted to foster good will between Hawai`i and international players in a fun tournament. The event was hosted by Waikoloa Kings\u2019 Course for the first 10 years, then went to Japan in 2016 and 2017.
