Ukulele Fest

Ukulele master Waikoloa Beach Resort hosts the Great Waikoloa `Ukulele Festival each year as a way to showcase one of the state’s favorite and unique instruments. This festival is a terrific opportunity for all ages to immerse themselves in one small aspect of Hawai`i’s culture - by getting up close and personal with the `ukulele, learning how it is made, how to play the `ukulele and listening to songs played by talented artists.

Since 2001, Roy and Kathy Sakuma have been keeping the `ukulele festival alive and well, bringing their talent and aloha to the annual festival. Each year the event showcases an afternoon and evening of Hawai`i’s finest `ukulele players, top Hawaiian entertainers and musicians at Kings’ Shops and Queens’ MarketPlace.

Residents and visitors will be delighted to stroll the mall and visit exhibit booths to learn how a lei is sewn or make Hawaiian implements and have an opportunity to make one for themselves.

Plays Well with Others: A Fundraising Event with John Keawe

John Keawe, a Grammy Award winner and local legend, will perform in a fundraising event for the Kamuela Philharmonic. John will be accompanied by the orchestra on several of his original compositions. John’s beautiful wife, Hope, will also dance hula. A silent and live auction will be held featuring fabulous items for bid including fi shing day trips, local art, dinners, and much much more! Your Master of Ceremony is Lyman Medieros The evening will also include pupus provided by some of the Big Island’s finest restaurants in the perfect setting of the Hilton Waikoloa Grand Ballroom.
