Fourth Annual Festival on Hawai‘i Island on Friday, August 29, 2014

Waikoloa Beach Resort in partnership with Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort and Hilton Waikoloa Village host a world-class food festival a statewide initiative to benefit the state’s culinary and agricultural community along with the hospitality and visitor industry. Opening night of the Festival (Friday, August 29, 6-10pm) will be held at Waikoloa Beach Resort Theme:
“Aloha ‘Āina, Aloha Kai — Love of the Land, Love of the Sea” Kick-Off Event:
Six-course sit-down gala dinner is being held at Waikoloa Beach Marriott in partnership with Hilton Waikoloa Village.

About the Festival

Hawai'i Food & Wine Festival 2014 Waikoaloa Beach Resort Roy Yamaguchi, Denise Hayashi-Yamaguchi (Executive Director of HFWF), Alan Wong, Aya Nishihara (Development Mgr of HFWF) Four years ago, to celebrate the excellence and diversity of Hawai’i’s cuisine, two of the Aloha State’s most prominent chefs, Roy Yamaguchi (Roy’s Restaurants) and Alan Wong (Alan Wong’s Restaurants), launched the Hawai’i Food & Wine Festival. Noted for bringing the “who’s who” or internationally acclaimed master chefs, master sommeliers and top-tier winemakers from Hawai’i, the mainland U.S., Australia, Japan, New Zealand and Taiwan.

Benefit Fundraiser

Last year the Festival raised more than $200,000 for local beneficiaries committed to sustainability and cultural and educational programs in Hawai’i. Chef Charbonneau. “Not only will this event showcase the bounty of local produce, meats and seafood, but it raises money for some very worthwhile causes.”

NEW this Year

Family event this year, Keiki in the Kitchen: Food, Family, Fitness, and Fun Bishop Museum on Saturday, September 6. Keiki in the Kitchen will be an all day event filled with chefs preparing healthy tastings using local ingredients, fitness activities, and cooking demonstrations for the keiki lead by chefs who focus on the farm to table movement.

Jayson Kanekoa

Waikoloa Beach Marriott Chef Kanekoa was born and raised near Waipio Valley on the northeastern shore of the Big Island. Kanekoa says his love of cooking “Hawaiian inspired” foods and flavors comes from his grandfather, a taro farmer who made his own poi. Read more >>
